Halloween Project #10 - Bottle Witch

Another fun project was this bottle witch. It was made with an empty sparkling apple juice bottle, torn strips of black fabric, black ribbon and  Wicked Doll Bodies from Ten Two Studios.

Halloween Projects #8 and #9 are on my other blog: Paper Crafts, Pass It On.

Project #7 - Black Cloth Wreath

This cloth wreath was very easy to make. It took about 1 yard of black broadcloth, an old wire coat hanger (Do they still make these?) that I bought at a thrift store, 3 mummy balls (see I told you they would make another appearance), 1 skull flower pin, 1 felt spider (with his own web) and a felt pumpkin patch. Tools used: wire cutters (heavy duty enough to cut the coat hanger wire), scissors, ruler, hot glue and glue gun.

Project #6 - Skull Flowers

The large black flower and the red one are both hair clips. The smaller black one and the purple skull flower are pins.
Recipe:
Bag of Skulls from Dollar Store
The large black flower is a BlingaGe hair clip by teresa collins that I took apart. I removed the large rhinestone, and added black tulle that I gathered into a circle on the back, (tulle is from Hobby Lobby).  The trim around the skull is from Misty Busby's online store "MB Treasurista", and has been dyed black with Black Soot Distress Ink.
The red hair clip is a "gimme clips" by Bella Blossoms and is called Fruit Punch.
The small black flower and the purple one were dyed with Black Soot and Seedless Preserves (which is from the Autumn 2011 Seasonal Series) Distress Inks. Both were originally Pastel Flowers from Hot Off The Press.

#5 - Dead Branches and Skulls Wreath

This looks a lot better in person. It was hard to photograph where it was hanging.
I call it Dead Branches because I have sprayed the branches with Flat Black primer, and it looks like they are old, dead branches.

Recipe
5 Black Roses from IAMROSES
3 skulls from Bag of Skulls from Dollar Store
spiderweb like stuff with spiders from JoAnn Best Buys a few years ago
wreath is from Hobby Lobby and has been sprayed with Flat Black Primer 3X
ribbon is from a ribbon grab bag that I bought a few years ago from JoAnn sales bin

Halloween Project #4

This adorable trio of "Mummy Balls" were so much fun to make. They can be used to fill a bowl or as Halloween ornaments. I am sure they are going to show up again in some other decoration this month.

Halloween Project #1 is up.

You can find Halloween project # 1 on my other blog: Paper Crafts, Pass It On. Halloween Projects 2, 3, 4 and 5 are finished, but still need to be photographed (sometimes a hard thing to do this time of year in Oregon.).

What's on Your Work Space?

I have a number of projects that are awaiting me to spray with something that needs to be done outside (fixative, workable fixative, protective finish). I live in Oregon, and  I haven't been able to make it outside on the sunny days. The latest project is an artist tray that I painted brown. It needs a protective coat on the paint because I used a water base paint on it (you use what you have on hand during these times). I hope to get it sprayed soon and back on the work table so I can filled it with some of my grandmother's sewing items.

Dell came through!

I had a Dell notebook that overheated and burned my leg. I also had insurance on that same Dell notebook. Dell replaced my notebook with a newer/better notebook without any hesitations. Now, I know you are probably saying that Dell should have done this, but don't you just love it when a company steps up and corrects/does what it should do without a fight. Thanks Dell! You are back on my good side again.

Big Celebratory Collage Give Away

Dezinaworld is celebrating her 500th follower with a collage give away. She is also having a dollar sale. Contest ends July 15th.

Sometimes you have bad luck.

I haven't been crafting much. Just a few Valentines cards for family. My right arm is acting up like my left arm did two years ago. I am hoping I don't need surgery again. I have another pinched nerve, this time in my spine. It is preventing me from being able to lift my right arm any higher than my waist. I am trying to stay positive, but it doesn't seem to be getting any better. I am not suppose to be on the computer very long, so I will not be posting much. I will try to do a couple of projects each week, mostly in my journals. I will be back.

100 Themes Challenge at Digital Whisper

I am a member of Digital Whisper, but lately I haven't been able to create any digital art. I decided that I would change this by enrolling myself into the year long challenge they have called 100 Themes. I will be posting my artwork on this blog with the tag 100 themes challenge. You can find all of the links for the different artists on the Digital Whisper blog.

Another Goal

I decided to keep an art journal to go along with my sketch book of ideas. It will be more of an inspiration journal where anything goes, and there will be a lot of trying out new things. I have three other types of art journals, but they are mostly personal entries. One is all about my personal side for my son to read when he is older. Another one is a healing one, and the most used one is about what I am thinking about. I am not sure how much will be posted here. Over time I might become more at ease with that.

One of my goals for 2011

I no longer make resolutions. I found that they were usually full of let downs and almosts. I now set goals for myself each year. Some are mini goals and some or more elaborate. I find that I can baby step my way to a large goal and be happy at each accomplished step. One of my goals is to keep a sketchbook of ideas. I have even joined The Sketchbook Challenge. I am not sure how much of my book I will share here, but I will try to get up the courage to show as much as possible.
